Here at Aberdeen Church we want to be faithful to what God calls people to do and be. So, we are learning to be a loving community that gathers together to love God and our neighbors. We try to show each other the forgiveness and grace that God has shown us. We want to grow closer to God and our neighbors by studying God's Holy Bible and caring for the needs of others. Finally, we want to be a people who serve our community while sharing the good news of salvation found in Jesus Christ. All are welcome to come and join Aberdeen Church to worship God and be in community with God's people!

Worship: The Gathering

It is God's desire that people come together as a community to worship. So, on Sundays individuals come together at The Gathering to do just that. This worship time is filled with powerful and relevant God-led teaching, prayer, and music. There is also food and time to connect after worship.

Children and Worship:

Children and Worship provides one way of nurturing childrens' faith and preparing them for worship with the whole congregation. Every Sunday, children ages 4 through 9 are dismised to attend their own worship service during the regular Sunday worship. Children not only read and learn the Biblical stories of Holy Scripture but experience them.

Nursery:

Available for children age 3 and under during worship.

Walking Through the Holy Land - a study by Ray Vanderlaan. Learn the geography, history and culture of the lands where Jesus walked in this fascinating overview by Ray VanderLaan. This small group study continues at 6:30 p.m. Tues. Feb 7 in the church main floor lounge.

What We Believe

God - God is proclaimed and seen in all that is good in creation because God has created all things that are good and is reflected in it, but God is most fully revealed in the Holy Bible. The God of the Holy Bible is the one and only God of all that exists and salvation is found in this God alone. While God is one, God is found in the three persons of the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) who are all equal in divinity, three distinct persons, yet united together. God is always working to redeem, restore, and save all of creation through God's covenantal love. The Holy Bible - The Holy Scriptures were written and edited by people who were inspired and led by God to write. The words in the Holy Bible are from God and the Holy Spirit guides its readers to understand the text and to comprehend and accept the salvation that is proclaimed in it. It is also very helpful and important to understand the culture, mindset, and language of the original writers so that the text is properly interpreted in the context it comes from rather than a person's bias or current circumstances. There are 66 books in the Old and New Testaments that are inspired by God, but the texts of the Apocrypha, the writtings of the early Rabbis, the early Church Fathers, faithful tradition, and the history of the Church can also be helpful in learning about God, God's ways, God's people, God's Word, and God's Holy Church. But above all the Holy Bible is our highest authority! Creation - We believe that God created all things in Heaven and on Earth and with the rest of all creation we praise God. With that said, while we believe God created all things we do not know exactly how God did it. There are many theories and we encourage people to explore and learn more about God's creation, but no matter how much we find out, there will always be a point where human understanding reaches its limits. God put humanity in charge of creation and expects us to tend and care for all creation, so we believe that we should be good, creative, responsible, and resourceful stewards of what God has given us. God's Church - God calls people to be part of a community of faith within the Christian Church, which is a community of believers in Jesus Christ and not the buildings in which they meet. In this way we are able to support each other in our needs, be accountable to each other, and help each other grow in faith and love as we seek to be closer to the heart of God. The Church is to be a blessing to the greater community and not just those who attend church. We are to reach out in love, as God has, to the poor, oppressed, and those who do not know God. God's community is called to love its enemies and even be a blessing to them by providing for them. Most importantly though, the Church is called to proclaim the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ by using the gifts that God has given us and proclaiming this good news in word and deed. All are welcome! Nicene Creed - We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. AMEN!

Small groups are a great way to get to know other people and develop deeper relationships. They provide the opportunity for each of us to give and receive support, encouragement, and prayer and are also an ideal place to study the Bible. Feel free to join any small group at any time. 24:7 YouthEvery Sunday (except on holidays) at 4:05pm (that is right, 4:05pm) We meet in the church basement youth area.This group is for Middle and High School StudentsIn this group we have good conversations that include how music, movies and current events impact our lives and beliefs then we respond to them biblically. We also have a great time playing games and having youth events. Recently we hosted a lock-in for 18 group members and friends. If you think you think you know what a youth group is about, get ready to be schooled because 24:7 Youth is like nothing you've ever experienced. Be prepared to learn, laugh, and live like never before.Vacation Bible School (VBS)Thanks for the wonderful experience everyone! For VBS 2011 we had over 100 kids join us and it was a great time for all. Stay tuned for details about the 2012 VBS!
